The Farmer’s Coop Society of Sioux Center hosted an open house and ribbon cutting today to celebrate their new cover crop seed storage system and liquid fertilizer plants. As adoption rates for sustainable farming practices increase, the cover crop facility was needed to remain competitive, allowing FCS to provide greater options for growers with more seed species, variety, and custom blends. Utilizing automation and new technology will also allow FCS to meet greater demand for cover crop services.
According to an article in the spring FCS Magazine, Farmers Coop Society made a large investment last year in liquid fertilizer and chemical systems that adds efficiency, accuracy, and speed for enhanced custom application and customer pickup. Included in the system is a 2M gallon liquid nitrogen fertilizer storage tank and a chemical shed in Sioux Center, featuring an ultra-modern fertilizer and chemical loading and mixing facility.
Farmers Coop Society is a member owned cooperative with nine locations throughout Northwest Iowa and Southeast South Dakota.
